Helm upgrades
Whether it’s one display that died or a whole helm that’s a decade behind, new electronics are only as good as the installation behind them. Hands On Deck is a certified Garmin installer, and we provide marine electronics installation in Fort Myers for boat owners across Southwest Florida, from a single display replacement to a complete helm modernization.

Primary electronics line

What We Install
We supply and install Garmin marine electronics, including:
- Multifunction displays and chartplotters
- Sonar and transducers
- Radar
- Autopilot components
- Cameras
- Networking equipment and related accessories
Garmin is our primary electronics line, but we don’t stop there. We install, service, troubleshoot and integrate other major marine electronics when they’re the better fit for your boat.
NMEA 2000
Networking It All Together
Modern helms are systems, not separate boxes. We work with NMEA 2000 and other marine networking to connect displays, sensors, engines, autopilot and cameras so they share data and work as one. When the boat already has equipment you want to keep, we’ll look at how it can be integrated with the new gear.
How We Approach an Install
A clean installation is the part you don’t see:
Proper power architecture.
Correctly sized wiring, fusing and connections so electronics get clean, reliable power.
Sound network design.
Backbone, drops and terminations laid out so adding a device later is simple.
Serviceability.
Wiring routed and labeled so future troubleshooting doesn’t mean tearing the console apart.
A finished helm that looks intentional.
Displays sized and placed for how you drive, with panels and mounts that look like they belong.
Bigger helm changes sometimes call for a new dash panel or console modification, which we handle through our custom work service. When the right part is hard to find, our parts team sources it.
FAQ
Marine Electronics Installation FAQs
Don’t see yours? Call the shop and talk to the team directly.
Do you only work on Garmin?
No. Garmin is our main line, but we regularly work on other leading brands too, from repairs and troubleshooting to full installs.
Can you add new electronics to what I already have?
Usually, yes. We’ll check what’s on the boat, whether it can talk to the new equipment over NMEA 2000 or another network, and recommend what to keep and what to replace.
How long does a helm upgrade take?
A single display swap is quick. A full helm modernization with new networking and panel work takes longer. We’ll give you a timeline with the estimate and keep you updated during the install.
Electronics & Upgrades
Related Upgrades
Electronics projects often happen alongside other upgrades. Seakeeper Ride integrates with your helm display, and audio and lighting upgrades share the same wiring and power planning, so it often makes sense to plan them together.

Seakeeper Ride →Compatibility review, installation and integration of Seakeeper’s underway attitude-control system.

Audio & Lighting →Stereos, amplifiers and speakers, plus underwater, courtesy and accent lighting.

Custom Work →One-off fabrication, helm modernization and projects that combine several trades.
