Repair & Refinishing
Barnacles and slime on the hull slow a boat down, burn more fuel and can damage the surface they cling to. We provide complete boat bottom painting in Fort Myers for boat owners across Southwest Florida, from surface preparation and primer systems through the final antifouling coats.

Who Needs Bottom Paint
Boats that spend significant time in the water, whether in a marina slip or tied up behind a house, need antifouling to keep marine growth off the hull. That includes larger yachts, offshore boats and many bay boats. Boats kept out of the water on a lift or trailer often don’t need antifouling at all. If you’re not sure where your boat falls, we’ll tell you.
Why We Prefer Hempel
Hempel is our preferred bottom paint partner. Hempel describes its yacht and commercial marine coating lines as built around professional fouling-control technology and long-term underwater protection, and we select Hempel systems often when an owner wants a high-performance, professional coating.
That said, your needs come first. Boat use, storage, water conditions, hull material, existing coating, speed and personal preference all matter. If you prefer another compatible manufacturer, we’ll apply the product that best fits the boat. Pettit is another brand we work with.
Our Boat Bottom Painting Process
01
Assess the existing bottom.
We check the condition of the hull and what’s already on it, because new paint has to be compatible with old.
02
Prepare the surface.
Cleaning and sanding give the new coating something to grip. If the old paint is too thick or failing, we’ll recommend bottom paint removal first.
03
Prime as needed.
We use a primer or barrier system that’s compatible with the antifouling going on top.
04
Apply antifouling to spec.
Coats go on to the manufacturer’s specification for your paint and the way you use the boat.
Haul-out is part of the job. If your boat needs to come to us, we can arrange transportation and haul-out.
FAQ
Bottom Paint FAQs

Does a boat bottom need to be painted every year?
Not always. How often depends on the type of antifouling, the water the boat sits in and how much it’s used. Some systems last longer than others. We’ll check the bottom and tell you when it’s due.
Can you put new paint over my old bottom paint?
Often, if the old paint is sound and compatible. If it’s thick, flaking or a different type, it may need to come off first so the new coating bonds properly.
What kind of bottom paint is right for my boat?
That depends on your hull material, how fast and how often you run the boat, and whether it sits in a slip. We’ll recommend a system after asking how you use it.
