Choosing Materials for Florida

Sun and moisture are what wear out soft goods here, so material choice matters as much as the stitching. We focus on fit, durability, function and materials suited to sun, moisture and marine use. Whether you want to restore the factory appearance or create a new color and material package, we’ll talk through how each option holds up and how to care for it.

Repair, Recover or Replace?

Not every tired seat needs to be replaced. Torn stitching or a split seam can often be repaired. Faded or cracked vinyl over a solid base can usually be recovered. Seats with rotted bases or waterlogged foam are the ones that typically need a full rebuild. We’ll look at each piece and tell you which route makes sense, and we’ll be clear about which items can wait if you’d like to spread the work out.

Upholstery projects often pair well with a deep boat detailing job, and larger interior changes can be part of a custom work project. When the boat is going into storage, a fitted cover or shrink wrap protects the new soft goods.

FAQ

Upholstery & Canvas FAQs

Don’t see yours? Call the shop and talk to the team directly.

Is it cheaper to reupholster or buy new boat seats?

It depends on the seat. When the frame and base are solid, recovering is usually the more economical choice. When the base or frame is failing, replacement can make more sense. We’ll compare both for your seats.

What do custom boat cushions cost?

Cost depends on the number and size of cushions, the foam, the material you choose and whether patterns need to be made from scratch. We’ll quote it after measuring.

Can you repair my existing Bimini instead of replacing it?

Often. Zippers, snaps, seams and small tears are common repairs. If the fabric itself has broken down from sun exposure, replacing it is usually the better value.
